Easy to apply and no tape needed, just followed the directions on the package. Just watch the arrows on the filter and on the case on the furnace box. Amazed how dirty the old one was!Will change this one in six monthes instead of 12 as the furnace guy had indicated. Nice having a spare already in the house.

This is the same filter that my furnace came with and includes the self-stick foam strip that keeps the filter in the housing and dampens any vibration it may experience. No reason to try an off-brand. The original filter lasted 10 months and I expect this will have a similar life. The two-pack is handy.
