I have used the Honeywell Filter from this same retailer in the past, and that is a great filter, but this one has a slightly higher ( Better ) Merv rating, so the last two years I've been using this one instead. In my case, I needed to upgrade the stock Aprilaire filter housing last year to fit this better filter, but that was a cinch, there is even a short video on here to show you how. I changed the filter after a year like the installer recommended, but it was still pretty clean and I could have gotten by awhile longer with it had I chosen to do so, especially since it is built to handle more airflow than what my unit is rated.

I HAD THE COMPANY THAT ORIGINALLY INSTALLED OUR FURNACE DO A CHECK UP AND CLEANING OF OUR FURNACE, WHILE HERE HE INSTALLED THE NEW FILTER (SAME ONE WE HAVE PURCHASED FROM YOUR COMPANY IN THE PAST)HE COMMENTED THAT IT WAS A HIGH QUALITY FILTER.AFTER INSTALL HE SAID THE TEST SHOWED IT A 95% EFFICIENCY RATING. PROS:
Very good at cleaning the air of dust and allergens.

CONS:
1. Difficult to install --- before sliding it on, you must align all four grooves (top/bottom, left/right), which can be tricky in an attic.

2. When I changed my filters today, I found that the glue holding the tops of both of my old filters had failed at some point and both filters had collapsed. This meant we had no air filtration for an unknown period of time. Very annoying.

CONCLUSION:
I like these filters and will give them another chance. I will regularly check the new filters to ensure they haven't collapsed. If they do, then I will find another filter solution.

I checked the "Compact" box because they're very compact to store. The older options for these Aprilaire high-performance filtration units are either bulky (the just-put-it-straight-in kind) or really a bother (the put-it-in-the-plastic-holder-and-separate-the-pleats kind). I recommend the upgrade to allow use of these. It's easy and they have a nice video that shows how to do it right on the site.
