The UKF8001AXX has been upgraded to the UKF9001. The UKF9001AXX filters MTBE (methyl-t-butyl ether) in addition to the contaminants filtered by the UKF8001AXX.
I checked with my local water department and their testing revealed no MTBE in our water supply.
So, using the older UKF8001, which is a little cheaper and lasts much longer works best for my situation. Save money using the UKF8001 if your water supply is clear of MTBE.

Once I installed this filter my water dispenser flow greatly decreased and the water is not cold anymore. This was the filter suggested for my model number.

This is the filter my fridge uses. It's so easy to replace and the water is good. This was also the best price I could find when I bought 3. I wish the filter lasted a little longer - but the city water here is bad, I guess it has a lot of work to do! I bought extras so I would have a back-up when the little red light goes off.

This filter fits my French door fridge, and having cold filtered water and lots of clean ice cubes come out the door is a really nice bonus!! I even use the bin of ice cubes in my garden (tomatoes will turn red quicker when they get some nice cool roots when they are the right size, but still green!).

I really don't know how much I can say about the filters. They were replacements for the filter that came with my Whirlpool refrigerator. They make my city water taste better. As for the performance on removing impurities, I really don't know.

I purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator last summer. This filter was part of the in-door water and ice dispensing system. The monitor stated that I needed a new filter 6 months after I started using the refrigerator. I searched the Internet and filter-outlet.com had the best prices on replacement filters. I'm usually pretty handy around the house...have my very own tool chest and my own power drill....so who would ever think that I would have to make a service appointment to get a water filter changed? Directions say...turn counter clockwise to remove..Turning counter clockwise did nothing more than snap off the filter casing cover. Put that back together and tried again. Casing came off again...but the filter stayed put. Third try (leaving the cover off), resulted in the entire filter unit popping out of its "joints". Put that back together, put the cover back on and called service. Let them figure out how this is done...Assuming that this is a fridge design issue and not a product defect, I must say that other that installation issues, these are very good water filters. Although we dont use the water for drinking, our ice is clean and flavor-free, and thats a very good thing! After all that ...I deserved a nice cold drink!

Great deal for three pack of filters. I don't think it's as durable as the previous Fridgedaire filter as the water pours out much faster (i.e. less filtering). But for the price, you can't beat it.

Bought a new refrigerator that had the filter already in it and it made a big difference in taste, just like bottled water. The filter finally ran out after about a year and the water started tasting just like the tap water, which is'nt good. So i had to buy another one of the same model because it made such a big deference.
Great place to buy filters. I checked just about everywhere and this place is the lowest price. I also felt the filters would be new and and sealed and not just hanging around somewhere for years, because of there name, website and seams they sell alot of filters.

I use this product for our stainless steel refrigerator and I must say that I check everywhere for a great deal. The major department stores [...] all wanted ridiculous prices for it. Put this product in my refrigerator. It has a lot of air in the water, but once that settles, it is clean and clear and tastes very good.

Once we ran some water through the filter (a few large cups) the factory taste cleared out and its just as good and clean as the Kenmore filter we usually pay 50% more for.
Prompt delivery, and the package was in excellent condition. Wish there wasn't Styrofoam peanuts (I have dogs and cats that get the darn things everywhere), but I was otherwise perfectly satisfied.

Replaced old filter in Kenmore Limited Edition side-by-side of unknown age (came with the house we bought.) Very easy to install, but water comes out very slowly and tastes very much like plastic. We've only used for a few weeks so perhaps these problems will disappear with time.
