The UKF9001AXX is the latest refrigerator filter from Amana and is compatible with the UKF8001AXX. The differences between the UKF9001AXX and the UKF8001AXX are as follow: The UKF9001AXX filters MTBE (methyl-t-butyl ether) in addition to the contaminants filtered by the UKF8001AXX. You can learn more about MTBE by visiting the MTBE page at www.epa.gov. Due to the additional filtration offered, the capacity of the UKF9001AXX is reduced from 750 gallons to 100 gallons. My ice cubes were starting to have that stale taste to them. I changed the filter and the next batch of ice cubes were back to being fresh tasting. Very easy to remove the old filter and reinstall the new one.

The AmanaPuriClean III has incredible depth and bredth of filtration. The filter inserts list more contaminants that are removed or reduced to near zero than ANY other brand or model of filter. The water tastes pure, and clean, hence the name! I will not hesitate to reorder this filter in 6 months [...] Great product, [...] excellent pricing.

These water filters are great and the PuriClean III does filter more than the PuriClean II. Of course, you really don't know if it is working properly or not. The water tastes good, but then again I really don't notice the difference in taste between the Puriclean II or III. But it does give you the satisfaction of not having harmful chemicals in your water.
