This filter is used for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Sears/Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators with turn access through the front base grille. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. Easy to Install: turn filter one quarter turn counter-clockwise. Pull out old filter. Save grille cap. Place grille cap on new filter. Insert filter turn clockwise until firmly seated. Flush filter: 2 quarts of water through filter and remove air. Flow will sputter until filter is full. The WF285 filter removes the following contaminents: 99.30% of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90% of P-Dichlorobenzene 99.99% of Cysts 99.90% of Lead at pH 8.5 99.99% of Cysts 94.90% of Atrazine 94.50% of Mercury at pH 6.5 98.70% of Carbofuran 87.50% of Toxaphene 96.60% of Mercury at pH 8.5 97.00% of Chlorine 94.20% of 2,4-D 99.92% of Asbestos 99.10% of Turbidity 97.80% of Chlorine 89.60% of Benzene 97.60% of Particulates (Class I)* 99.30% of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90% of P-Dichlorobenzene 99.99% of Cysts 99.90% of Lead at pH 8.5 99.99% of Cysts 94.90% of Atrazine 94.50% of Mercury at pH 6.5 98.70% of Carbofuran 87.50% of Toxaphene 96.60% of Mercury at pH 8.5 97.00% of Chlorine 94.20% of 2,4-D 99.92% of Asbestos 99.10% of Turbidity 97.80% of Chlorine 89.60% of Benzene 97.60% of Particulates (Class I)* * This filter removes Class I particulates down to 0.5 microns. Had I known that these came from CHINA I would never have purchased. I think that is a major point of difference,especially with something that is consumed by humans. With all the headlines about Chinese products contaning contaminents, how are we to be assured that these are safe to use? Have they been tested in the U.S.? Without answers to these questions, I would definately satay with PUR or Brita for a few extra bucks.
