The WF286 refrigerator filter reduces chlorine taste and odor, and leaves beneficial flouride in your drinking water. To install the WF286 filter, line up install mark on the filter label with the indicator line on the filter mounting bracket cover. Insert the filter cartridge and turn 1/4 turn to the right to lock in place. The remove mark should be lined up with the indicator line located on the mounting bracket cover. The o-rings on the filter are pre-lubricated at the factory. The package of silicone lubricant is no longer included with the filter as indicated in the installation instructions. The WF286 filter removes the following contaminents: 99.30% of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90% of Lead at pH 8.5 94.50% of Mercury at pH 6.5 96.60% of Mercury at pH 8.5 99.92% of Asbestos 89.60% of Benzene 99.90% of P-Dichlorobenzene 99.99% of Cysts 98.70% of Carbofuran 97.00% of Chlorine 99.10% of Turbidity 97.60% of Particulates (Class I)* * This filter removes Class I particulates down to 0.5 microns. These filters seemed identical to the original Whirlpool name brand one that came with my fridge. Looked the same, fit the same, water tasted the same, same filtration quantity. The only difference is the label. I would say to buy these if you don't want to pay the full name brand price, you won't know the difference.

I researched the web and came to this site, read all of the reviews and figured out what everyone else had, mainly that I could save a bunch of money off the store brand filters I had been purchasing for 8 years! I am very pleased, there is absolutely no difference in the quality and I will change my filter more often now!

Until happening upon your site, I had no idea there were substitutes for my Whirlpool refrigerator's water filter. A $7 savings per filter is quite welcome. Being able to buy them in a multipack is handy.[...]!I can taste no difference in our water. For what it's worth. it is just as difficult to install as the original brand.

After a reasonable amount of researching based on price, I decided to give the replacement filters from filter-outlet.com a try. I received my filters quickly and at a reasonable price. So far, there is no noticiable difference in the AquaFresh filter and the expensive Whirpool filter. I will use filter-outlet.com again.
