Located in: Refrigerator Filters
This filter is used for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Sears/Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators with turn access through the front base grille. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. The o-rings on the filter are pre-lubricated at the factory. The package of silicone lubricant is no longer included with the filter as indicated in the installation instructions. Easy to Install: turn filter one quarter turn counter-clockwise. Pull out old filter. Save grille cap. Place grille cap on new filter. Insert filter turn clockwise until firmly seated. Flush filter: 2 quarts of water through filter and remove air. Flow will sputter until filter is full. The o-rings on the filter are pre-lubricated at the factory. The package of silicone lubricant is no longer included with the filter as indicated in the installation instructions. This filter has been tested by the manufacturer against ANSI/NSF Standard 42 for the reduction of Chlorine, Tastes and Odors. We moved into our new-to-us home and the water from the fridge had a funny taste. I drink mostly bottled water but was excited to have a water dispenser with filter on the fridge to save money.
I replaced the filter with the Aquafresh model and, after filtering out what was still in the reservoir, now have great tasting water from the fridge. I can't tell the difference between the bottled water and the filtered.
It's only been three weeks so I can't speak to how long the filter lasts.

I have a kitchen aid refrig and it fits in the filter area. the only thing is the cover that goes on the back is a bit loose not a tight fit that comes with the frige [...] works well I have not had any issues.

What a deal! I would normally pay close to $60 for a new filter through [...]. This Aquafresh filter works just as well and after installing the filter the water showed a marked improvement with flow from the dispenser in the door. I will never pay for another Kenmore brand filter again. I couldn't be happier and the filters arrived in record time. Oh yeah, and my coffee tastes divine now.
