Made In The USA This filter is used for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Sears/Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators with turn access through the front base grille. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. Easy to Install: turn filter one quarter turn counter-clockwise. Pull out old filter. Save grille cap. Place grille cap on new filter. Insert filter turn clockwise until firmly seated. Flush filter: 2 quarts of water through filter and remove air. Flow will sputter until filter is full. This filter has been tested by the manufacturer against ANSI/NSF Standard 42 for the reduction of Chlorine, Tastes and Odors. The filter was a smaller diameter then the original and was about 1/2 inch to long. I could only lock it in by the rear locking system but not by the front one. It is prone to breakage again in the future. It is not a universal replacement for the application.

Had I known that these came from CHINA I would never have purchased. I think that is a major point of difference,especially with something that is consumed by humans. With all the headlines about Chinese products contaning contaminents, how are we to be assured that these are safe to use? Have they been tested in the U.S.? Without answers to these questions, I would definately satay with PUR or Brita for a few extra bucks.

I usually buy my filter from Sears. It's a Kenmore. But after bargain hunting and finding the Aquafresh filter, I thought I'd try it. Hey, it's cheaper! I actually LOVE the taste. I'm not one to drink water, unfortunately, but I really like the clear taste of this one!
