Made In The USA This filter is used for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Sears/Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators with turn access through the front base grille. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. Easy to Install: turn filter one quarter turn counter-clockwise. Pull out old filter. Save grille cap. Place grille cap on new filter. Insert filter turn clockwise until firmly seated. Flush filter: 2 quarts of water through filter and remove air. Flow will sputter until filter is full. This filter has been tested by the manufacturer against ANSI/NSF Standard 42 for the reduction of Chlorine, Tastes and Odors. My problems are more with the design of the refrigerator. The knob that has to be turned to remove the filter is right at floor level and so stiff I have to use pliers to turn it, so I end up lying on the floor in front of the refrigerator to accomplish the change.

Carefull when installing these filters. Silicon lubricant is an upgrade that is included over all previously used filters. Only issue I had was filter has limited travel while engaging and ended up breaking cover cap off (so don't turn these filters to hard or expect it will turn as far as your previous filter).

After reading the reviews and calling in I found that any issues with these filters has been fixed. Went ahead and purchased them. So far so good. The water doesn't taste as good as the water we get for our water dispenser but it definitely is satisfactory.

Once installed, the water dispenser worked perfectly and the ice maker made ice not only much more quickly, but also better tasting. Definitely will buy again. Just make sure you slide the handle off the old filter and place it on the new filter.

There really are no pro's, but You have to replace it eventually. It is a little difficult to change the filter of my kitchenAid kscs25fkwh02. I have to use a pair of pliers, not to grip it, but to get better leverage on the 2 inch diameter cartridge cap. I replaced a 4396508, and I noticed no difference in water taste. I like the fact that this unit specifically lists "cysts" as one of the items it also filters. I had to run about 3 gallons of water thru the filter before the carbon bits stopped showing in the water.

Good working unit. A little tough to install because it is a tight fit and hard to turn the filter but a bit of muscle will get it in. Water tastes good and for the price, you can't complain.

This filter has a flat top where a Whirlpool filter is wedge shaped. The Aqua Fresh filter leaked in our Whirlpool.

It was way too hard to install. Not at all like the Whirlpool/KitchenAide filter. You had to really push it in so you could turn it to install it.

I thought I would try a different brand over Whirlpool, bad idea. Put these in two different whirlpool units and they both leaked causing damage to the kitchen floor. Simple do not use these.
