This filter is a replacement for the now obsolete Samsung DA29-00003B. The WSS-1 Filter is Made In The USA WaterSentinel water filters use advanced filtering technology to turn tap water in to great tasting water. These filters remove the turbidity (tase and odor), sediment, dirt, rust and chlorine. This filter is used for some Samsung, Admiral and Maytag refrigerators. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. Easy to Install: Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise Pull the filter straight down and discard (the water will shut off automatically) Push the new filter up into the refrigerator until it stops Twist the new filter a quarter turn clockwise If your refrigerator has a "change filter" light, reset it now This unbranded filter removes the following contaminents: 99.30% of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90% of Lead at pH 8.5 94.50% of Mercury at pH 6.5 96.60% of Mercury at pH 8.5 99.92% of Asbestos 89.60% of Benzene 99.90% of P-Dichlorobenzene 99.99% of Cysts 98.70% of Carbofuran 97.00% of Chlorine 99.10% of Turbidity 97.60% of Particulates (Class I)* * This filter removes Class I particulates down to 0.5 microns. The WaterSentinel replacement for the Samsung water filter installs in the same manner, and seems to work well in filtering water. The unanswered question is about how effective it is in removing pollutants. The Samsung filter comes with a test data sheet that specifies the testing it has undergone and tells exactly what it will remove. The WaterSentinel does not. So, is it as effective in removing invisible particles? Without further information from the company, I cannot tell. It is certainly a less expensive alternative, but does it filter as well?

Everything about this filter is great, except I had to ask my husband to install it for me. I'm petite, and even on a stool, I needed more height, strength and leverage to be able to twist/remove the old filter and insert/install the new one. Not a problem with the filter at all, just something 6" of height for me would help! :)

This filter was easy to install and it did not leak as others reviews have stated. Comparing the Samsung Aqua Plus to this filter, I have not noticed a difference in the taste of the water or ice. The filter also flushed just fine. I ran about 1 gallon of water through the filter before all visible particulates disappeared. So I ran an additional gallon of water through the filter just to be safe.

I'm hoping that will make it easier to remove the filter when it is time. We've had trouble both times when removing the brand name filter, even calling the manufacturer the first time. Of course the person who answered the phone was in a foreign country and was no help. I had to use a rubber filter-type wrench to remove it. My husband was worried it might break something, but luckily id did not. I will definitely be buying these again and will recommend this company to friends and relatives.

We installed one of these generic filters about 3 weeks ago. We ran several gallons of water through it before the taste became bearable. After 3 weeks it still has a funny taste to it that we never had with the original filter that came in the refrigerator. I would recommend paying the few dollars extra and get an original filter.

Product leaked when I installed it and tried several times to stop the leaking. Replaced the rubber O rings from the original filter that I was taking out, reinstalled it and it stopped leaking.

We bought these filters to replace our original Samsung filters. They fit perfectly, the water tastes great, and we get water flow through these filters at twice the rate of the originals... a big advantage. The only thing the originals had that I wish were included are labels that you attach to indicate the installation date.

Basically, we were quite upset at how badly this filter worked. It tasted awful, more so for my wife since she has a more sensitive taster. I could still taste some plastic in the water. We returned them, and decided to get a reverse osmosis filter and hooked it up to the refrigerator. Now it tastes great with the RO filter.
