This filter is a replacement for the now obsolete Samsung DA29-00003B. The WSS-1 Filter is Made In The USA WaterSentinel water filters use advanced filtering technology to turn tap water in to great tasting water. These filters remove the turbidity (tase and odor), sediment, dirt, rust and chlorine. This filter is used for some Samsung, Admiral and Maytag refrigerators. It does a great job of reducing chlorine taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months. Easy to Install: Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise Pull the filter straight down and discard (the water will shut off automatically) Push the new filter up into the refrigerator until it stops Twist the new filter a quarter turn clockwise If your refrigerator has a "change filter" light, reset it now This unbranded filter removes the following contaminents: 99.30% of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90% of Lead at pH 8.5 94.50% of Mercury at pH 6.5 96.60% of Mercury at pH 8.5 99.92% of Asbestos 89.60% of Benzene 99.90% of P-Dichlorobenzene 99.99% of Cysts 98.70% of Carbofuran 97.00% of Chlorine 99.10% of Turbidity 97.60% of Particulates (Class I)* * This filter removes Class I particulates down to 0.5 microns. Bought this as my first replacement filter. Installation was quick, easy, and appears to be physically identical on the exterior. Works well. It has only been installed for a month, so I can't comment on its longevity...

Not sure what the other guys problem is, but the filter works just fine. We have city water from a municipality in FL. As anyone who lives in Florida can tell you, even city water tastes like it came from a well or a creek. I've had this on my fidge for a year and it works just fine. Eliminates all the bad taste, which is my top concern. I have not had it tested for removal of other contaminants, but then again I don't really care. Ice cubes taste fine...coffee tastes fine...tea tastes fine.
