We have hard city tap water. This filter is amazing. Installing was a snap. Saved 30% compared to retail. Coffee with it is the talk of the neighborhood. Water now is crystal clear, refreshing and exhilarating to drink. My consumption has increased greatly. It's like drinking from the pristine springs shown on TV commercials. No more tap water for us.

Beautiful Ice and Taste, but . . .

Easy Installation, Easy to Maintain, Good Tasting Water, Nice ice
With old plumbing, the filter is so good that its life span is shorter than the guidelines suggest. For two adults, ice shortages and slow dispenser flow appear in 6 weeks or so in a 1932 home using clear Hetch Hetchy water from the Sierra Nevada that flows through old distribution system in San Francisco. Between the city lines and the household plumbing, the filters have a lot of work to do, but they do it consistently and well if not long.
