This filter is used for Whirlpool® side-by-side refrigerators with turn access through the front base grille. They do a great job of reducing cysts, asbestos, chlorine's taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury and more. It also retains beneficial fluoride. Model is NSF certified so it ensure consumers they are drinking clean, safe water. Make sure to replace your filter every 6 months.
Installation Instructions:
Filter is located in the base grille.
To change the filter make one quarter turn to the left.
Pull old filter out, replace with a new Whirlpool Ice and Water Filter.

Tested and certified by NSF International in models WF-NLC240V et WF-LC400V against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction of Chlorine Taste and Odor and Nominal Particulate Reduction Class I; and against NSF/ANSI Standard 53 for the reduction of Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-Dichlorobenzene, Toxaphene, 2, 4-D, Asbestos, Cysts, Turbidity, and Atrazine. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Systems that are certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts.
I've used this filter for the last 4-5 yrs, it never fails me. This retails for 20-40% more at [...], filter-outlet.com sells the same stuffs except cheaper. [...]

This was a replacement filter purchase & I shopped hard for the best deal. Filter-Outlet had the high end filter that I wanted at the best price. IMO this filter does the best job of removing all chemicals and other impurities from tap water. Tip - be sure to replace them on the required schedule to keep water safe and tasty!! Whirlpool Water Filters for Refrigerator

Was using Brita brand replacements that worked fine. Decided that for a few dollars more might as well go for the original ultra Whirlpool version. The deep discounted knock off replacements might work fine, but since they are manufactured in China....contents of filter material might be cat/dog fur!
